RARC (Remittance Advice Remark Code)

A supplemental code on a remittance that adds detail to a CARC, further explaining a payment or denial.

Where a CARC says what was adjusted, the RARC often explains why in more specific terms. Together they guide how to correct or appeal a denied claim.

They appear on the ERA/835 and the EOB.
